Foster City Middle School Students Have Own Dance This Weekend

Need to get rid of those old computers and printers? There's an E-Waste and Shred Event at Foster City's City Hall on Saturday.

Friday, May 10 

Drop-in Table Tennis

11 a.m., Parks and Recreational Department of Foster City, 650 Shell Blvd., Foster City 

$3; Compete against others or just play to hone your skills -- with four sessions every week, there's time for you to become a tennis table expert! For information, visit their website here.

 

Middle School Dance

7-10pm at Brewer Island Gym, Foster City

Tickets go on sale two weeks before each dance at The VIBE. Only 350 tickets sold, so grab your friends and get your tickets early, they sell out! Cost is $6 with a student ID, $7 without. If tickets are available, price at the door is $10. There are no in and out privileges; once you leave, you may not re-enter. Any student leaving the dance early must have parent/guardian notify The VIBE at 286-3254 by 4:30pm the night of the dance. Middle School students from Foster City only! These are not school-sponsored events. Dress code will be enforced. Please refer to the website for details regarding middle school dance policies.

West Coast Farmer's Market

E-Waste and Shred Event

9 a.m.; City Hall, 610 Shell Blvd.

WHAT: camcorders, cell phones, chips and components, computers, computer monitors, connectors/cables, DVD players, FAX machines, keyboards, fluorescent tubes/lamps (limit of 5 per residence), laptops, mice, PC Boards, PDA’s, printed circuit boards, printers, radios, scanners, servers, stereos, storage discs, tape and zip drives, televisions, UPS Power supply units, VCR's.

 

Heartsaver CPR with AED course

9 a.m. Foster City Fire Stattion, 1040 W. Hillsdale Blvd., Foster City

$25.00; The Heartsaver CPR with AED course is a modular course that teaches lay rescuers how to recognize and treat life threatening emergencies, including cardiac arrest and choking for adult, child and infant victims. The information you receive in this class can be life saving! Registration is required. CPR Manuals can be obtained in advance by con-tacting the Fire Department. CPR classes are for Foster City residents only. Instructor: Fire Department Staff.

 

Open Gym Basketball

7 p.m. Brewer Island Gymnasium

International Writers Contest

The Foster City International Writers Team invites you to submit one or more manuscript/s in this year’s contest. The entry fee is $10.00 per manuscript. Prizes are $250.00 first prize and $100 second prize. Not only do winners come away with monetary awards, their names and pictures will be published in local newspapers. A number of our winners have gone on to become published writers. The deadline is September 13, 2013. Remember, you can’t be a winner unless you enter. UPCOMING EVENT: FIFTH GRADE HAPPENING

Saturday, May 18th, 6-9pm, The VIBE, Foster City.

Teen ZoneGames, music food, prizes and so much more. Meet other 5th graders from Foster City and enjoy the fun at the Teen Center. Must be currently enrolled in 5th grade to attend. Fee of $15 includes dinner and all activities. This fee does not include the cost of a VIBE membership card. Pre-registration is required. The VIBE is located at 670 Shell Blvd., south end of the Recreation Center parking lot next to the tennis courts. Please call Tiffany at 286-3395 for more information.
