Valor Games Inspires

Look out for the Valor Games next year in your area and get involved too, it is well worth it.

I was lucky enough to help out at the Valor Games these past few days. The Valor games is a three day sporting event for disabled/injured veterans. While there, I got to meet some truly inspirational folks. In this pic is Jeff Fabry, a three time para-olympian and gold medalist in the 2012 London games. This man and several veterans that I watched shoot arrows do so by pulling back the string with their teeth!!! Their aim is dead on accurate, it was incredible to watch.

The veterans competed in weight lifting, shot put, archery, cycling, and several more events. During the cycling event, one of the veterans took a real tight turn with a bit too much speed and accidentally fell over. I rushed over to him and picked him up and asked if he wanted me to sit him off to the side so he could catch his breath...he said "NO, put me in my seat, I have a race to finish". These wounded warriors definitely still have that warrior spirit.

I learned a lot about adaptive sport programs in the area that I had no clue existed. I hope to get a lot more involved now that I know. Look out for the Valor Games next year in your area and get involved too, it is well worth it.
