Like To Be a Foster City Citizen Cop?

The annual citizen's academy is coming up soon, and you can get in on the action.

Feel like learning how a cop investigates a crime? Ever wonder about how Foster City's force came to be?  An upcoming class promises some answers.

The Foster City Police Department is inviting Foster City residents to enroll in the upcoming Foster City Citizen Police Academy. The sessions will be held every Tuesday night from 7-9:30 p.m., beginning September 6 and concluding Nov. 8.

The deadline to submit an application has been extended to August 26th.

The Foster City Citizen Police Academy provides an opportunity for residents to understand the various aspects of the Police Department and to closely interact with its members.

A range of topics will be discussed that include department history, operations, uniformed patrol, traffic safety, and investigations.

Throughout the program, participants will be given practical information they can use to become better witnesses and to assist in their personal security.

A minimum of 20 successful applicants will be required to hold the class. Students must be at least 18 years old and complete the application process.

The classes take place at the City Government Center in Foster City. Anyone interested in enrolling in the Citizen Police Academy should contact Sgt. Tracy Avelar at 286-3328 or tavelar@fostercity.org.
