Foster City Village Project Continues to Move Forward

Project organizers will hold two focus groups in the coming weeks to educate the community on exactly which services the organization will offer local seniors.

The Foster City Village project, which has been in the works for nearly a year, continues to make progress toward launching.

Members of the organization announced Monday that they will be holding two focus groups in the coming weeks, during which they hope to explain to many members of the public exactly the types of services the group plans to offer local senior citizens.

According to the organization's website, Foster City Village - which has set up its headquarters at 969 Edgewater Blvd. - plans to operate as "a membership program that allows seniors to remain at home or with their family in a way that enhances dignity and independence, and that fosters social interaction through activities suited to seniors and their families."

The organization plans to accomplish this by offering senior clients assistance with such day-to-day tasks as running errands, attending doctor appointments, yard and home maintenance, help using a computer, shopping, and access to healthy meals, as well as organizing social activities and fun day-trips.

The organization also looks to establish relationships with important vendors to gain discounts for clients, and to foster a network of volunteers.

The upcoming focus groups will take place on Thursday, July 26 from 10-11 a.m. and on Monday, July 30 from 1-2 p.m. The meetings will take place in the Wind Room, above the , 1000 E. Hillsdale Blvd. Light refreshments will be served.

All members of the public who are interested in learning about the Foster City Village project and its anticipated services are invited to attend one of these meetings.
