Mary Whipple, the amazing coxswain for the womens 8 crew team. So many rowers from the bay area, including Kara Kohler whose quad got the bronze medal today.. and so little visibility.

Susan, I agree that they don't get nearly enough credit. Stanford, Cal and Washington have three of the best rowing programs in the world. Good luck to the women's eight on Thursday as they try to defend their gold medal.

Canada, which made the finals for the first time in a non-boycotted Olympics, was a nice surprise too. One of the girls, Kristina Vaculik, will be at Stanford this fall.

Gabby is by far the best story of the year for women's gymnastics. Aly Raisman, as Stacie points out, is also amazing. And remember that McKayla Maroney was the gymnast who fell during the trials and went to the hospital. Now she has a gold medal.
