CSM Swimming: Oto Takes Silver in State Photo Finish
Former Aragon High standout takes sliver medal in state title race decided by less than six tenths of a second. Navarro takes bronze.
Former Aragon High standout Miya Oto came within less than six tenths of a second of winning a junior college state title.
The CSM freshman took home a silver medal in the 200-yard freestyle at the California Community College Athletic Association Swimming and Diving championships today at East Los Angeles College of Monterey Park.
Oto clocked a one minute, 54.95 second time, just barely getting touched out by Riverside Community College’s Andrea Antonissen (1:54.37).

“The race finished that close,” CSM coach Randy Wright said. “It's the closest we have ever been to having a state champion.”
Oto was among two CSM medalists at the three-day event.

Alex Navarro was the other. He clocked a 1:41.25 to take a bronze medal in the 200 freestyle. Masa Oto placed sixth in the men’s 100 butterfly (51.07).
