Borg gives birth to baby boy on same weekend team eliminated from Super Regional tournament.

Events happened so fast for College of San Mateo's softball team over the weekend it was hard to keep up.

And in the end, a weekend packed with excitement, heartbreak and intrigue and joy, ended with the birth of a baby boy.

Nicole Borg, who in the last months of her pregnancy coached CSM to a No. 2 seed in Northern California and the right to host one of the state's four four-team Super Regional tournaments over the weekend, gave birth to Dylan Borg on Mother's Day.

She went into labor early Saturday and couldn't be with her team on what turned out to be the last day of the Bulldogs' season.

CSM was eliminated from the tournament in heartbreaking fashion, with the Bulldogs two outs away from advancing to the finals when they lost to Ohlone 3-2 on a walk-off homer.

CSM led 2-1 with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning when Ohlone’s Lauren Ermitano hit a two-run homer off Michele Pilster (29-5), the state's winningest pitcher.

CSM lost to Sierra 6-4 earlier in the day.
