CSM Baseball: Defazio Slams Bulldogs to Playoff Win
Chavez tosses four-hitter as Bulldogs move to within a win of series victory.
Brandon Defazio hit a grand slam to lead College of San Mateo to a 10-1 thrashing of Cabrillo on Saturday in Game 1 of a best-of-three state community college regional playoff series.
CSM (28-9) hosts Cabrillo (22-16) for Game 2 on Sunday at 11 a.m. An if-necessary Game 3 would be played immediately afterwards.
Daniel Chavez (4-2) pitched a four-hitter. The Serra grad struck out six and walked one.

Leadoff man Defazio was 3 for 5 with five RBI. His slam - CSM's first of the season - snapped a scoreless deadlock in the fifth. The Bulldogs batted around in the inning, scoring two more runs.
