CSM Baseball: Bulldogs Suffer Untimely Loss

West Valley closes to within a half game after Vikings trounce CSM 14-5.

The College of San Mateo Express hit a speed bump Tuesday, as one of Northern California’s hottest teams experienced a14-5 Coast Pacific Conference loss that was as untimely as it was lopsided.

The Bulldogs (23-10, 15-4), who’d won 19 of their last 21 games going into Tuesday, saw their conference lead trimmed to a half game over the second-place Vikings (20-13, 15-5).

CSM, which leads by one game in the loss column, has four conference games left. West Valley has three.

CSM starter Clay Bauer (3-5) lasted just 2 1/3 innings after allowing seven runs on six hits and three walks.

Nick Davenport (Sequoia High), Cody Zimmerman, Trevin Craig and Mike Kathan each had two hits to lead CSM offensively.
