School Board Candidate to Host Meet-and-Greet, Discussion on Sunday

Audrey Ng, a mother of two children who attend Audubon Elementary, will host a meet-and-greet this Sunday. The public is invited to come and discuss school issues.

Audrey Ng, a candidate running for an open seat on the San Mateo-Foster City School District's Board of Trustees, will appear at a meet-and-greet hosted by David and Terri Lim at their home in San Mateo this Sunday, Sept. 11 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Ng is the mother of two children who attend . At the meet-and-greet, she will be available to discuss issues facing the community and why she is running for a seat on the five-member board, which will be part of the upcoming election in November. Ng said she wishes to hear what is on the mind of local parents in regards to the school district.

The Board of Trustees oversees the budget, curriculum, teacher contracts, discipline, and overall policies for the elementary schools and middle schools in San Mateo and Foster City.  Ng said, decisions by the board can have a profound impact on local students and the surrounding neighborhood.

"If you have children in the district, or care about the quality of our community, I invite you to attend this opportunity to talk to Audrey in an intimate setting," said David and Terri Lim, the event hosts. "Come talk to Audrey and make an informed decision about her qualifications for the school board."

Ng and the Lims say, this event is not a fundraiser. Light refreshments will be served, and a jumpy house and activities will be provided to entertain children so parents can take their time to talk to Ng.  barbecue lunch will also be served. Ng will greet guests from 10-11 a.m., then leave to attend another previously scheduled event from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. while a barbecue lunch is served, then return to greet guests again from 12-1 p.m.

The Lims say, drop-ins welcome, but if possible, they request that people RSVP by Saturday at ucladavid@yahoo.com or 415-290-4044 so they can plan refreshments accordingly.
