School District and Foster City Look to 'SCORE' Ideas

SMFCSD and Foster City enlisting parents, community leaders, for solutions to overcrowded classrooms.

The San Mateo-Foster City School District and the City of Foster City are looking for a few good parents and community leaders.

And some ideas.

The two bodies are partnering to enlist the public to come up with solutions to school overcrowding in Foster City.

They want community leaders and residents with various perspectives to assist the Superintendent:

  • Review all possible solutions to student capacity challenges.
  • Determine the benefits, costs, and impact on Foster City.
  • Prioritize and recommend the best solution(s) to the Superintendent.

SCORE will consist of:

A. Four parent leader residents, one from each Foster City school, recommended by the school’s principal.

B. One principal from a San Mateo school recommended by the Superintendent.

C. Two Foster City residents recommended by the Foster City Chamber of Commerce.

D. Three Foster City residents recommended by the City Council of Foster City, one of whom serves on the Foster City Parks and Recreation Committee.

E. Three Foster City residents recommended by the San Mateo-Foster City School District Board of Trustees.

Meetings will be held twice a month and will be open to the public.

If you are interested in serving on this committee, please submit a letter of interest explaining why you should be selected for SCORE, an attached resume or background information and your contact information (email, home address, and phone) to City Clerk Doris Palmer via email dpalmer@fostercity.org, or regular mail at 610 Foster City Blvd., Foster City, CA 94404.

All applications must be submitted by Monday, April 9, at 5:00 p.m.
