CSM's Pilster Wins a Pitching Duel in Softball

Bulldogs got one hit, which led to only run.

Michelle Pilster took a perfect game into the sixth inning and settled for a two-hitter as the College of San Mateo softball team edged visiting Foothill, 1-0, in a Coast Conference North Division contest Thursday.

The Bulldogs (2-0, 15-1) travel to Cosumnes River for a game Saturday at 10 a.m.

Foothill's Amelia Vivo also had a no-hitter going until CSM's Selina Rodriguez led off the fourth inning with a double, stole third and came home with the game’s only run on an overthrow at third.

Pilster's perfect game was broken up by Kayla Igou, who singled with one out in the sixth.

Foothill (1-1, 10-5) loaded the bases on two walks around one strikeout before Christina Mendoza’s foul pop fly to first ended the inning.

Pilster won her state-leading 12th game and struck out 10 to add to her state-leading strikeout total, which is at 85.
