Bowditch Students Jazz Up Recycling Bins

A total of six six-cubic yard bins were painted with designs created by the students that carried environmental and recycling themes and messages.

Students from Bowditch Middle School recently partnered with Rethink Waste to decorate recycling bins.

Students from the school’s recently formed Interact Club, Rotary International’s service club for youth between the ages of 12 and 18, spent their Saturday morning painting recycling bins that are used at Shoreway’s Public Recycling Center in San Carlos.

"The kids were really great! Ken Kleiman, teacher at Bowditch, really ran with the idea when we reached out to him, and another teacher, Tyler Webb, helped the kids come up with the drawings and ideas," Recycling Outreach & Sustainability Manager Monica G. Devincenzi said.

"We hope to collaborate with them again in the future. We ended with a tour of the MRF, and provided a pizza lunch for them," Devincenzi said. "This was their end of year activity, followed by a game of laser tag in Mountain View."
