The two groups made proposals for developing a 15-acre parcel near City Hall to the council on Sept. 6, but City officials said they wanted more information from them and has summoned the groups back for tonight’s meeting.

The two groups were among three selected from an initial pool of 10 or so developers. A third group has since dropped out.

The two groups submitted their first proposals on Aug. 1 in response to an official City request.

After hearing presentations from both groups at the Sept. 6 meeting, the council toured sites built, owned and operated by each group.

The council held a special closed-door session on Sept. 19 with City property negotiators.

The council planned to make its pick on Oct. 3, but until it had a chance to gather more information.

The two groups will be available to field questions and hear comments from council and the public at tonight’s meeting.

The main purpose of bringing the developers back to the council is informational, a memo to the council from Community Development Director Richard B. Marks posted on the City’s website said.

“The focus of this working session is to better understand the products and services included in the two proposals and how they will benefit not only Foster City seniors but the entire Foster City community,” Marks said the in the memo.

“By addressing the attached questions, along with questions posed at the Council meeting, the City Council and public should achieve a better understanding of what is being proposed by each of the two development teams.”
