UPDATE: Foster City Restaurants Re-Open Quickly Following Health Dept. Closures

The San Mateo County Health System is now reporting that Togo's and Buri Tara Thai Cuisine, both of which were closed for violations in mid-May, re-opened quickly.

Two Foster City restaurants that were closed by the San Mateo County Health System in May due to health code violations were allowed to re-open quickly following their closures, Health System reps told Patch Monday.

at 933 E. Hillsdale Blvd. and Buri Tara Thai Cuisine at 939-A Edgewater Blvd. were closed on May 15 and May 17, respectively. Robyn Thaw, public information officer for the County Health System, told Patch both restaurants were allowed to re-open the day after their closures.

According to the County website, Togo's violation was a lack of hot water, which is important when cleaning in order to effectively kill bacteria.

However, Buri Tara Thai Cuisine's violations were numerous, and significantly more serious.

The website decribed Buri Tara's violations as "improper cooking time and temperature of potentially hazardous foods; food contact surfaces not being cleaned and sanitized; lack of hot and/or cold water; and operating without a health permit."

Patch wants to know - how do you feel about these two restaurants' closures? Since the County Health System deemed them safe to re-open and serve customers again with 24 hours, will you consider patronizing them in the future?

Have you eaten at either business since they re-opened? And if so, what did you think?
