Portion of Crystal Springs Road Closes for 18 Days

The closure will allow crews to replace a regional water pipeline.

A portion of Crystal Springs Road in unincorporated San Mateo County just south of Hillsborough will be closed for 18 days starting Monday, June 11.

The closure, which takes place between Polhemus and state Highway 35, will allow crews to replace a regional water pipeline as part of the Crystal Springs Pipeline No. 2 Project.

The road closure will be in effect for cars and other vehicles 24 hours a day, seven days a week, from June 11 to June 29.

Bicycles only will have through access on Sundays to Sawyer Camp Trail; however, the road will be closed for cyclists Monday to Saturday – including Saturdays June 16th and 23rd.

During the closure, cars will be detoured onto Hwy 280. Bicycles will be detoured to Hillsborough city streets. For more detour information, please visit: www.sfwater.org/SCT.

Will the detour be well marked or do bicyclists have to memorize the route? The detour appears to be more than 6 miles and pretty complicated if you're not familiar with the area.

Commuter - we don't have information currently as to how the detours will be marked, but PG&E will hold an informational meeting this Wed night to give locals more information. We'll have details about the meeting on Patch Wed morning.
