PHOTOS: Voters Trickle Out on Election Day

As predicted, voter turnout was low, but precinct workers were optimistic about the number of vote-by-mail ballots they were collecting

The is now history. And as citizens from around the county made their way to the polls today, none had to wait in long lines or haggle for parking spaces.

As predicted, voter turnout was low. Or, as one precinct worker put it, "Not fantastic."

"It is slow, but after dinner things liven up a bit," said Lucille Amarantes, who was working at the voting precinct in Twin Pines Park in Belmont.

However, the number of vote-by-mail ballots were up according to election officials. They predicted 35-40 percent of all ballots cast would be in the form of mailed in ballot.
