Obama Returns to Peninsula, Protesters Prepare

The president plans to make stops in Palo Alto and Portola Valley.

President Barack Obama visits Palo Alto this Thursday for a fundraiser again so residents and commuters should prepare for a lot of traffic—again.

Obama's first stop will be the Crescent Park home of Mike and Marci McCue, the founding team of Palo Alto-based Flipboard.

According to SF Gate's Carla Marinucci, the cheapest ticket to the 5 p.m. reception went for $2,500 per person, but for more access to the president, attendees would have needed to shell out $12,500 per person or $15,000 per couple.

The second stop will be the Portola Valley home of venture capitalist Vinod Khosla. Khosla and his wife Neera will wine and dine guests starting at 6:30 p.m. for a whopping $32,400 per person/$64,800 per couple.

On the way to and from the McCue's home on University Avenue and Middlefield Road, the president's motorcade will pass a protest organized by the local Sierra Club supporters.

The Sierra Club wants Obama to not move forward with the Keystone XL tar sands pipeline. They've called upon other organizations to join them—350 Silicon Valley, CREDO Action, the Center for Biological Diversity, and Friends of the Earth—so expect a lot of commotion at that intersection.
