Free Community Shred Event on Saturday

Specially trained Recology employees will be on hand to shred personal documents on-site safely and securely.

Recology San Mateo County is teaming up with the City of Foster City to host a Free Community Shred Event on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the parking lot of .

Specially trained Recology employees will be on hand to shred personal documents on-site safely and securely. The event is sponsored by the City of Foster City and Recology San Mateo County.

Foster City residents may bring up to five file storage boxes (measuring 10” x 12” x 15”) of personal paper documents to be shredded for free.  Residents should be prepared to show proof of Foster City residency with either a valid California ID or recently addressed bill.

"Shredding sensitive documents is one way to reduce your risk of becoming an identity theft victim," organizers said in a statement. "Community shredding events give individuals the opportunity to have their confidential documents destroyed on site, free of charge, whether it is small business documents you no longer need or personal papers you want to safely destroy."
