Foster City Seeks Planning Commissioner

The Planning Commission consists of five residents of Foster City.

The city of Foster City is accepting applications from residents interested in serving on the Planning Commission to fill one new full term from June 1, 2013 to May 31, 2017.

The Planning Commission consists of five residents of Foster City. To be eligible to apply, a resident must be at least 18 years old and must have continuously resided in the city for at least three years immediately prior to submission of an application for appointment to the Planning Commission.

Community involvement in Foster City and relevant experience will be considered in evaluating applicants. Appointments are made by the City Council.

Planning Commissioners are compensated $269 per month and are eligible to participate in the city’s health benefits plan.

Interested residents may apply by submitting an application form to the City Clerk stating qualifications including length of residence, community involvement, relevant experience, and objectives for desiring to become a member of the Planning Commission.

Application forms are available at City Hall, by calling 286-3250, or by downloading at www.fostercity.org.

Applications will only be accepted by the City Clerk up-to 5:00 p.m., Thursday, May 2, 2013. Applications may be hand-delivered, mailed, emailed or faxed to the City of Foster City, Attention: City Clerk, 610 Foster City Boulevard, Foster City, CA 94404; clerk@fostercity.org; fax 650-286-2552. 

All interviews and appointment will be made by the City Council at its regular meeting of Monday, May 20, 2013.

Applicants attending the May 20, 2013, Council Meeting will be considered for appointment to the Planning Commission that evening. All applicants are invited to attend the regular meeting of the Planning Commission of April 2 during which Planning Commissioners will be available to discuss the purpose and responsibilities of the Commission. 

Appointees must file a Statement of Economic Interests form with the City Clerk within thirty (30) days of assuming office, as mandated by California State Law.
