No Developer Chosen for 15-Acre Lot Yet

The City Council issued a press release Tuesday stating that members need more information from the two teams being considered before choosing between them.

Though the City Council had previously indicated it would be announcing which company it had selected to develop the City's vacant 15 acres of land near City Hall and build a senior living community on it at its upcoming meeting on Oct. 3, a press release issued Tuesday said the Council feels it needs more information before it can do so.

At , two land development teams presented proposed projects for the 15-acre parcel, which sits immediately south of City Hall, near the corner of E. Hillsdale and Foster City boulevards. On Oct. 3, the two teams will be given another opportunity to discuss their proposals, relative to how they will benefit the Foster City residents and community, the press release stated.

Video of the two teams' proposals during the Sept. 6 Council meeting can be viewed online on the City's official website.

During the upcoming meeting on Oct. 3, the two teams will answer questions from the City Council about their proposed projects, and will be asked to specifically address their business model for the project, including the number and type of senior housing units that will be built, which services will be provided, and what the cost could be to move into and live in the units. The teams will also address how the general public will enjoy the site through the retail stores and the public spaces.

The Council then plans to discuss which team it wishes to select for the job at its next meeting, scheduled for Monday, Oct. 17.
