Woman Gets Jail Time for Biting Deputy's Leg

A 20-year-old woman received a year in jail after biting a sheriff's deputy.

A 20-year-old woman has been sentenced to a year in county jail for biting the leg of a sheriff's deputy while in custody, according to the San Mateo County District Attorney's Office.

Katie Elizabeth Pasquinelli, of Foster City, was stopped by a San Mateo officer on Oct. 29, 2011, prosecutors said.

The officer determined she was under the influence of alcohol, and arrested her on suspicion of drunken driving.

The was taken to the First Chance Program instead of jail, but two hours later authorities at the program called police and said Pasquinelli was being "verbally abusive."

Officers took her to jail where she screamed profanities, threatened lawsuits and continuously resisted officers, including trying to push them away and walk out of the booking area, prosecutors said.

As deputies were trying to stop her from banging her head against a wall, she bit a deputy through her work pants, causing a bruise and pronounced bite mark, according to prosecutors.

Pasquinelli on Monday pleaded no contest to battery on a peace officer, and driving under the influence. She was ordered to serve one year in county jail; though the sentence is stayed on the condition of completing a drug treatment program.

She was also sentenced to serve 18 months of supervised probation, followed by 18 months of court probation.

She remained out of custody on $15,000 bail bond.
