Woman Fatally Struck by Caltrain
Preliminary information suggests death may have been a suicide.
A Caltrain struck and killed a woman in Menlo Park on Monday night, an agency spokeswoman said.
The pedestrian was fatally struck by a southbound train at Encinal Avenue at about 7:30 p.m., spokeswoman Christine Dunn said.
The identity of the woman remained unknown, and an investigation has been launched by Transit Police. Preliminary information suggests the death may have been a suicide, according to Dunn.

The train, No. 804, was stopped at Oak Grove Avenue and its 238 passengers were transferred to the next southbound train, Dunn said.
Train tracks were closed in the area as emergency crews responded. No injuries were reported among the passengers or Caltrain crew.

Caltrain was running on a Saturday schedule because of the holiday.
This is the first fatality of the year on the Caltrain tracks, Dunn said. Last year there were 16 fatalities.
