Teens Attempt to Rob Home Over Holiday Weekend

The attempted robbery occurred in San Mateo.

Three teenagers attempted to rob a San Mateo home as the residents were hosting a holiday party early Saturday morning, police said.

Three teens -- a 15-year-old from Oakland, a 16-year-old from San Mateo and John Johnstone, 18, from Hayward -- broke into a home in the 1700 block of Norfolk Street at about 1:20 a.m. Saturday and confronted the residents during the party, according to police.

The residents refused to give in to the teens' demands for money.
