String of Break-Ins Plague Foster City Apartment Complex

In each case, windows were broken to gain access to the vehicles, Foster City police said.

Police in Foster City are asking residents to remove all valuables from their cars after six vehicles parked at an apartment complex had their windows smashed last week.

The string of break-ins occurred in the parking lot of a complex on Meridian Bay Lane sometime between Thursday evening and Friday morning, Foster City police Capt. Joe Pierucci said.

In each case, windows were broken to gain entry to the vehicles, he said. The items that were stolen included GPS systems, prescription glasses, an iPhone charger and Prada sunglasses, according to police.

"It's best if folks store those things out of sight, or better yet, remove them from their vehicles altogether," Pierucci said.

Pierucci advised residents to always lock their cars, whether they are parked in public lots, driveways, carports or secured parking areas.

Police also advised residents to be on the lookout for suspicious activity in shared parking lots at apartment buildings.

"We know these suspects are walking areas where there are high concentrations of vehicles," Pierucci said.

Anyone who witnesses suspicious activity is asked to get a description of any suspects or associated vehicles, including a license place number.
