SMPD Arrests Two in Armed Robbery

Fire fighters, K-9 unit aid in search.

San Mateo police officers made a quick catch of evidence and suspects shortly after an armed robbery at the 76 Station at 28th Avenue and El Camino Real this morning.

Investigators say two suspects entered the station at about 10 a.m., one brandishing a handgun, and demanded money. They stole cash from the station and fled on foot.

The city launched a telephone alert to instruct residents and retailers to remain inside or leave the community while police combed the area.

With the help of San Mateo fire fighters, police discovered the suspects as well as evidence linking them to the crime.
