Second Check Cashing Store Targeted
Police link suspect to armed robbery of Check 'n Go the day before.
Police are looking for a man who tried robbing a San Mateo check-cashing business at gunpoint Tuesday and who they believe robbed another at the same time the day before.
Officers responded to reports around 11 a.m. of an armed robbery at California Check Cashing at 610 S. Norfolk St., which is near the corner of Norfolk St. and Cary Avenue.
A black male in his late teens to early 20s reportedly entered the business, brandished a handgun and demanded money, police said. An alarm sounded and he fled before getting any cash.

Investigators believe the suspect was the man who went into a Check 'n Go at 3880 S. El Camino Real at about the same time Monday. The suspect in that case entered the business, produced a silver handgun and stole an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing on foot, police said.
No one was injured in either incident.

The suspect is about 5 feet, 9 inches tall with an average build.
