Registered Sex Offender Pleads Not Guilty to Possession of Child Porn

A 25-year-old registered sex offender in San Mateo in August has pleaded not guilty to possession of child pornography.

Kent Ping Lin faces felony charges of possesion of child pornography in connection with his Aug. 22 arrest in which San Mateo County deputy probation officers, conducting a probation search of Lin's home in the 1600 block of Sugarloaf Drive, allegedly found new images of child pornography on Lin's computer.

According to the Megan's Law website, Lin registered as a sex offender for possessing "obscene matter depicting [a] minor in sexual conduct."

San Mateo police responded to Lin's home and seized numerous items of electronic storage media for further analysis, police said. Police also believe Lin was using his iPhone to visit pornographic websites.

Lin pleaded not guilty to the charges in San Mateo County Superior Court on Wednesday. A jury trial date was set for Feb. 27, and a pretrial conference date for Jan. 27.

Lin remains in custody in lieu of $90,000 bail, and a no-bail probation violation hold.
