Police in San Bruno, South San Francisco Beef Up Patrols Around Town

By Bay City News Service:

Traffic officers in San Mateo County will be on the lookout Wednesday for speeding motorists in well-known trouble spots in South San Francisco and San Bruno, according to police.

The 24 officers are participating in a countywide program, San Mateo County Saturation Traffic Enforcement, also known as STEP.

In addition to speed, Wednesday's deployment will focus on seatbelt and cellphone violations, and officers will be issuing citations as well as warnings, STEP officials said.

Participating officers are from local police departments in San Mateo County, as well as the sheriff's office and the California Highway Patrol. This is the sixth deployment of its kind in San Mateo County this year.
