Police Blotter: Woman Tracks Missing iPhone to Starbucks Using GPS

Friday, Jan. 20

9:10 a.m., Edgewater Place: Flaviu Chindris of San Jose was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and transported to the jail ward at San Mateo County General Hospital. Vehicle was left legally parked. Arrest made.

10:38 a.m., Lakeside Drive and East 3D Avenue: Glen Onizuka of San Mateo was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and transported to First Chance. Subject was also cited for driving on a suspended license.

11:56 a.m., Supermarket: Store manager detained a female shoplifter  for allegedly attempting to leave the store with a bag filled with unpaid items. Brittany Jackson of Foster City was arrested on charges of commercial burglary and booked into County Jail.

12:15 p.m., on Metro Center Boulevard: A woman went to Starbucks at 9 a.m. and accidentally left her white iPhone in the bathroom. She went back at 10:30 p.m. to retrieve the phone, but employees stated no iPhone had been turned in. She went home to Palo Alto to check the phone's internal GPS and it showed that the iPhone was still at Starbucks. She returned to Starbucks and asked an officer to assist in contacting staff to check for the phone or make a lost property report. The iPhone was located and returned.

Sunday, Jan. 22

2:21 a.m., Vintage Park Drive: A citizen observed the passenger of an older black vehicle, 90's model Oldsmobile, get out wearing dark clothing, a hat and a backpack and head north through the parking lot. Driver was contacted and denied having a passenger. Area search was negative. Devin Coooper of Oakland was cited and released for possession of less than one ounce of marijuana.

1:40 p.m., Compass Lane: A woman reported she called her house and unknown(s) answered the phone while no one was supposed to be there. Interior/exterior checked secure. Voices on the phone determined to be the outgoing message on the answering machine which had been changed by her young child.

Monday, Jan. 23

9:02 a.m., : FCPD received a report of unknown(s) posting internet site stickers on signs along the pedway between Sea Cloud Park and Rock Harbor Lane. No permanent damage was located.

8:43 p.m., Shell Boulevard: A resident reported that a group of three subjects were looking into vehicles with a small flashlight. Subjects were associated with a white truck. Subjects were gone on arrival and nothing was disturbed.
