Police Blotter: Hackers Steal $70K in Computer Parts

Tuesday, Jan. 24

9:07 a.m., Marlin Avenue: A man reported the theft of a gun from his garage sometime in the last few months. The gun was a .22 Cal Ruger. A report was taken.

12:07 p.m., Trivad on East Hillsdale Boulevard: Unknown suspects hacked into a company website and ordered $70,000 in internal computer hard drives and USB drives and had them shipped to Benin, Africa. A report was taken.

4:06 p.m., : A woman reported that her cell phone was taken out of her purse. The phone was a red Samsung Metro PCS phone. Text messages were exchanged between the victim and suspect, but the suspect refused to return the phone. A report was taken.

11:50 a.m., Ribbon: A woman returned home to find a bag that appeared to have been set on fire on the sidewalk in front of her residence. No one was seen. A small scorch mark was located, but no crime was determined.

Thursday, Jan. 26

3:23 p.m., Supermarket: FCPD received a second hand report that a victim's vehicle was struck in the parking lot as she was backing out. The vehicle left, but there was some white paint transfer. An area check was made for witnesses with negative results. A report was taken.
