Peninsula Man Reported Missing for Two Weeks

Dereck Ohlsen of San Carlos, 25, was last seen Sept. 4. He is considered at-risk.

The San Mateo County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help in finding a San Carlos man who has not been seen in more than two weeks.

Dereck Ohlsen, 25, was last seen Sept. 4 around 8:30 p.m. in front of his home in San Carlos.

Authorities say Ohlsen has been housebound for the past two years in his San Carlos residence. However, for the past few months, he has been getting out for walks around San Mateo County. He may have been going on one of those walks the evening of Sept. 4, but hasn't been seen since.

Authorities say, recently, Ohlsen had been talking about wanting to walk to San Jose to visit his grandparents.

Anyone with information of Dereck's location is asked to contact the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office Missing Persons Detective Ken Clayton at 650-363-4050, or notify Det. Clayton through San Mateo County Public Communications at 650-363-4911.

A missing person's flier with photos of Dereck Ohlsen is included in the photos section of this article and downloadable as a PDF.
