Mills-Peninsula Employee Charged With Stealing Medical Files

Millbrae woman pleads not guilty.

Katherine Asimos, 49, has been charged with stealing hundreds of patient files from the Mills-Peninsula Medical Center – where she worked since 2001.

She took home up to 1,000 documents because she said she was overwhelmed and behind on filing the paperwork, according to San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe.

In a separate case, Asimos wrote checks from her elderly father’s account without his permission, according to the Millbrae Police Department.

She plead not guilty to misdemeanor charges of theft and forgery. The case is set for jury trial on Feb. 21, 2012.
