Man Rescued From Water Near San Mateo Bridge

A man was pulled from the bay and taken to Coyote Point in San Mateo.

The U.S. Coast Guard rescued a man from San Francisco Bay near the San Mateo Bridge this morning.

The California Highway Patrol notified the Coast Guard at 7:19 a.m. that there was a person in the water near the western end of the bridge, Lt. j.g. Jeremy Pichette said.

The Coast Guard dispatched a small boat and a helicopter, and arrived at the scene at 7:50 a.m., Pichette said. Foster City Fire Department also sent a small boat, he said.

The man was pulled from the water and taken to Coyote Point in San Mateo. Pichette did not know his condition but said he was conscious and responsive.

He said he did not know how the man ended up in the water.
