Foster City Police Rule Man's Death a Homicide

Incident is Foster City's first reported homicide in five years and second in 15. Victim's identity has been withheld.

Police have determined the death of a man whose body was discovered on Friday afternoon to be a homicide.

The man’s body was discovered inside a home on the 600 block of Waterbury Lane. Police received a report of a man who appeared deceased inside a residence at about 3:11 p.m.

A team of Foster City police, District Attorney, Coroner and County Crime Lab investigators arrived at the scene at about 5:30 p.m.,  and determined the case to be a homicide shortly afterwards.

“This homicide does not appear to be a random act of violence,” Foster City Police Chief Craig Courtin said in a press release.

The incident is Foster City’s first reported homicide since 2006 and the second since 1996.

Police have withheld the victim’s identity pending notification of next of kin and no suspects or persons of interest have been publicly named.

“It’s a fluid investigation,” Capt. Jon Froomin told Patch. “We really don’t know when we’ll have any more information” about his case.
