Foster City Man Skips Preliminary Hearing, Bench Warrant Issued

A Foster City man arrested earlier this month for allegedly breaking into a vehicle in the parking lot of the Holiday Inn Express in Belmont failed to make his court appearance on Monday.

According to the San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe, a $100,000 bench warrant has been issued for Zachary Guyton, 22, for not showing up to his preliminary hearing before Judge Clifford Cretan.

Guyton, who was out of custody having posted $50,000 bail, forfeited bail and his private defender panel was relieved.

Belmont police arrested Guyton and three others in the hotel garage on June 3. 

A patrol officer heard the sound of breaking glass in the garage and interrupted the burglary in progress. Guyton was reportedly standing next to a car with a shattered window and had broken pieces of glass in the cuff of his pants.

An investigation into the incident showed that Guyton and the other suspects were burglarizing cars in the garage.  

The four suspects were taken into custody on suspicion of multiple charges. Two of the suspects were adults and two were juveniles (the names of juveniles were being withheld due to their ages). 

The adults were booked into the San Mateo County Jail and the juveniles were booked into the San Mateo County Youth Service Center.

In addition to Guyton, the suspects arrested were Deondrea Washington, 18, of Foster City, male juvenile, 17, of San Mateo, and male juvenile, 16, of Hayward.
