Firefighters were battling a two-alarm fire at a crematory in Colma on Wednesday morning, a fire dispatcher said.
An employee at Cypress Lawn Memorial Park, located at 1370 El Camino Real, said the fire was burning at its crematory building. The crematory is across the street from the main Cypress Lawn building, she said.
The employee said she couldn't see the fire because of trees obstructing her view, but that "there was quite a bit of smoke."
As of 9:50 a.m., crews were still at the scene but the smoke had subsided, the employee said.
