Accident, Potholes Close Lanes Northbound US-101

A severe traffic alert was in effect Saturday on northbound US-101 at Peninsula Avenue in San Mateo.


Update 3:52 p.m.:

Expect residual delays on US-101 northbound at Peninsula Avenue in San Mateo after two lanes were shut down at 1:44 p.m. Saturday due to an accident and potholes. All lanes are now open.


On Saturday at 1:44 p.m., a severe traffic alert went into effect on northbound US-101 at Peninsula Avenue in San Mateo County.

The two right lanes are closed due to an accident and potholes.

Motorists are advised to expect delays and to use alternate routes. There is no estimated time of opening.

large pot holes could cause loss of control of a vehicle. to a motorcycle,they can be deadly. There were some very long potholes in that area.

This is only a small beginning. A lot of roads in San mateo are hideous patch jobs, just waiting for the next rain to wash them out. There was a humungous one on third avenue exit which took 2 months to fix. If you did not want a flat, you had to ride on the right side of the curve--nice. In general, the freeways to an from the Bay Area are in shameful condition---are you listening Brown Moon Beam?
