Staying Safe From Burgleries During This Holiday Season
One year ago this month, while at a park in Foster City, a burglar broke into my car and took my purse. It was the middle of the afternoon and I was very close to my car yet heard nothing.
The tool used according to the Police officer who took the report, was a small device that looked like a spark plug. The thief had no problem doing a grab and run once he/she broke the window.
Naturally I blamed myself, how dumb can I be? I later learned that in Foster City there were at times 10 cars broken into on the same street early in the morning. I now practice a very simple rule: I leave nothing of value in my car, ever.
Even the remote control you have attached to your visor may result in a future home burglary. How? Just remember your car also has your insurance and registration information with your home address.
Best course of action to protect you from these thieves:
NEVER Leave and Valuables in Plain View in Your Car (Not even on the floors). ALWAYS (After shopping) place purchased items in your trunk. If shopping at night park in a well lit area. Also in the evening hours, t's best to shop with another person if you can.
