Many people come to Foster City for a new home for the excellent schools and the miles of lovely parks. There's a small population of folks that want to live her for a totally different reason.
Recently a first time home buyer came to me to find a home here (or close by) because of it's close proximity of the best windsurfing in San Mateo County. Not only do we have some lovely lagoons to sail, we also have the "chop hopping" bay at Third Avenue, which is mostly Kite sailing now.
In 1987 I came to Foster City from Mountain View to sail on these incredible lagoons. The beauty of this community and welcoming attitude of it's citizens was enough for me to fall in love with this town.
We are still only 20 minutes to the really hot windsurfing area of Candlestick park bay spot, however Third Ave is still my favorite.
Even some of the Condos here have extra storage for your kite/windsurfing gear.
Some areas around Shoreview and Los Prados are still close enough to sail on our lagoons, or Third Ave in a moments' notice.
