On the first Tuesday in November, voters will hold their noses and start marking ballots to make important choices in how we move forward as a country. In California, we will also have a raft of propositions that could have devastating or very positive outcomes (depending on your viewpoint) on our very near future.
Many of you may have already made up your minds about these propositions, so what is to follow is not for you. But if you are among most people who just can't figure out what the heck is reality, this video series is for you.
My good friend and staunch liberal, Craig Mosher, and I have, over the years compared notes on the propositions and devised methods for coming to decisions. In years when the propositions were significant, we have put on small events where we help people plow through the hype and come to their own, informed decisions.
This year we are incorporating video and the Patch platform to reach a wider audience.
Over the next several days and weeks, we will go through each proposition and discuss pros and cons, how to see what the reality is for each, and maybe make a good choice. In each case we will give you our reasons to support or reject the measure, but that is only to demonstrate how we came to our decisions. Many times Craig and I will agree, occasionally we will not, but in all cases you will see how two diametrically opposed positions can have a civil discussion about politics.
Note, however, we will not be addressing candidates. We'll explain why later. Our inaugural video today is about the process. It's the longest video (9 minutes) and may be the only one you need to make decisions. After today we will start going through each numerically.
Input is always welcome.
