Tuesday, Dec. 6

The scam was first reported to have affected 20 Bay Area Lucky and Save Mart stores in October and November, and later in the week the number .

The parent Save Mart chain issued a statement saying it wasn’t aware that any of its customers’ accounts had been compromised, but a company official advised anyone shopping in the affected stores during the months in question to consider closing their existing account and opening a new one.

 

Wednesday, Dec. 7

The Foster City Rotary Club’s two-day “One Warm Coat” drive (Dec. 3-4) benefiting those in need of winter cloths hauled in 49 full bags of blankets, sweaters and coats.

 

Thursday, Dec. 8

Aragon High softball standout Elena Bowman to play at Division I Manhattan College (New York City).

Bowman, a two-time First Team All-Peninsula Athletic League Bay and Central Coast Section selection, hit .413 with a .733 slugging percentage as a junior and batted .430 with 31 RBIs the previous year.

 

Friday, Dec. 9

Pretrial motions in the second murder trial of a man accused of strangling the daughter of a former Oakland Raider began on Thursday.

Mohammed Haroon Ali was convicted of murder in the 1999 killing of 20-year-old Tracey Biletnikoff, the daughter of Fred Biletnikoff, a Hall of Fame wide receiver.
