Chappelle will leave her post on Nov. 17, marking the end of a 30-year career in public service, 29 of which she spent in Foster City.

Originally hired as an administrative assistant in 1982, Chappelle was promoted to general services director in 1987, where her responsibilities included overseeing human resources and information technology. She was named deputy city manager in 1992, and has been assistant city manager since 1994.

 

Wednesday, Nov. 2

The group, organized by the AIDS Healthcare Foundation, was protesting what it said is the prohibitive cost of life-saving AIDS drugs that Gilead produces. According to the protesters, Gilead has priced thousands of uninsured or underinsured Americans onto death row.

 

Thursday, Nov. 3

Friday, Nov. 4

Citing philosophical differences with the Board of Supervisors, . Boesch’s resignation is effective Dec. 31. The announcement followed a closed-door session with the Board.

 

Saturday, Nov. 5

Parents, teachers and trustees called on the San Mateo-Foster City School District to that’s been in place since 2008. They described the standards-based system for grading students as arbitrary, demanding that the district return to using traditional A-F letter grades.
