The death of classic rock guitarist and Peninsula resident Ronnie Montrose last month was ruled a .

Montrose, 64, shot himself to death with a .38 caliber revolver in his Brisbane home, according to a San Mateo County coroner's autopsy report issued last week, the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Montrose's blood alcohol level was 0.31 (almost four times the legal limit) at the time of his last month.

The San Francisco-born Montrose played with Van Morrison, Herbie Hancock, Van Morrison, Boz Scaggs and the Edgar Winter Group, among others.

He started his own band in 1973.

 

Wednesday, April 11

The City of Foster City and the North Peninsula Jewish Campus inked a deal to sell an 11-acre parcel on which it currently sits for $20 million, the San Jose Mercury News reports.

The NPJC, which houses the Peninsula Jewish Community Center and the Ronald C. Wornick Jewish Day School, will pay $1 million down and $1.1 million a year for 25 years under terms of the deal, which is expected to be approved by the city council on Monday.

 

Thursday, April 12

A popular Bay Area sportscaster confirmed in a statement on Thursday that he’d been by KNBR under less than amicable circumstances.

Barbieri has been at KNBR since 1984 and a fixture at the station for decades, co-hosting “The Razor and Mr. T,” with former Golden State Warriors forward Tom Tolbert since 1996.

 

Friday, April 13

The Foster City Police Department condemning the defacement of a Foster City teen center with a swastika.

The FCPD statement described the incident as "hateful and provocative," but indicated that police believe the incident was the isolated work of youth or youths, not part of an organized hate movement.

"All indications are that this was the unfortunate act of an ignorant young person rather than the act of an individual or group bent on Anti-Semitic aggression," the statement read.
