SLIDESHOW: "Come One, Come All to Hear Gabriel's Trumpets"

Trio of trumpeters spreading holiday cheer throughout Peninsula, headed to Foster City later this month.

The blue skies and warm temperatures of late fall on the Peninsula can sometimes defy the holiday order to be "walking in a winter wonderland" or the desire to gather around the fireplace to keep jack frost from nipping at your nose.

But 90 minutes with the heraldic sounds of Gabriel's Trumpets, a trio of trumpeters spreading holiday cheer throughout Peninsula this month, makes getting into the holiday spirit easy.

The trumpeting trio, made up of Dean Boysen,  Franklin Davis and Stephen Ruppenthal, are bringing their majestic music to Foster City later this month.

At a Belmont performance on Saturday, the trumpeting threesome, bedecked in tuxedos and Santa hats, greeted their audience (and unsuspecting studiers) at the Belmont Library with a procession fit for a royal wedding.

"Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" took on a jazzy note when the trio added a straight mute, a device placed on the bell of the trumpet to give it that "wha wha" sound.

Audience members of all ages enjoyed the concert which featured traditional and original arrangements of holiday favorites such as "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year," "Silver Bells", selections from the Nutcracker, and even a Beatles-inspired arrangement of "Jingle Bell Rock."
