Peninsula Waste Management Company Offering “Tree-Cycling” Collection Services
Recology will pick up your unwanted holiday tree for free on regular composting collection days.
A Peninsula-based waste management company wants to make sure that holiday tree you'd like to unload doesn’t end up in a landfill.
Recology will collect trees for composting on regular collection days in Foster City and throughout its service area through Jan. 31.

Recology’s service area also includes Burlingame, Hillsborough, San Mateo, Belmont, San Carlos, Redwood City, Fair Oaks, Menlo Park, East Palo Alto, the San Mateo County “pockets” associated with the cities listed above, and the West Bay Sanitary District.
Recology asks that all decorations and tree stands (flocked trees are accepted) be removed before placing the tree next to their compost bins. Trees taller than eight feet should be trimmed, with the remaining pieces going into compost bins for collection.

Customers wishing to discard their trees after Jan. 31 are asked to cut them into pieces small enough to fit in their compost bins for collection.
Apartment managers and commercial customers are asked call to arrange for the collection of trees at a predetermined area at no extra cost.
