RibFest and Retired Volunteers

Rotary RibFest and Retired Volunteers This Saturday at the Recreation Center.

This Saturday's Foster City Rotary RibFest is run by volunteers. It raises money for the many projects Rotary does to benefit Foster City and beyond.

One of the best ways to "pay it forward" in your community is to volunteer. Many of the RibFest volunteers are seniors from within the community who have retired and are looking to "give back." The RibFest is a fun and delicious way to do it while raising money for a good cause. Joining the Rotary group for a Wednesday lunch at the Crowne Plaza at noon to find out all that you can do as a volunteer member is a good next step to think about if you are retiring.

The annual RibFest this Saturday is at the Foster City Recreation Center beginning at 5:30pm. It usually sells out the 220 tickets available and looks to do so again this year. Run entirely by volunteers, they handle the set up, cooking, decorations, auction, bar, ticket sales and everything else. Attorney, Stan Pond and his wife, Andrea (a Gerontologist) have done a wonderful job running the RibFest for the last few years.

If you want to see this great volunteer group in action, maybe bid on an auction item, dance a little, and enjoy some of Ollie Pattum's famous Ollique Ribs, see if you can get a ticket at the door. $40.00 per person if there are any left. MMMMMMmmmmmmm!!! And...think about voluntering after retiring, it may just enrich your life!

Thanks for reading ;-)
