It's Time to Enter Ritz-Carlton's Annual Gingerbread House Contest

We know that there are some serious bakers in San Bruno, otherwise we wouldn't have Busy Bakers in our midst. The Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay is currently accepting entries by children, home cooks and culinary professionals for their 10th Annual Gingerbread House Contest.

All entrants are invited to donate their gingerbread house, whether it wins an award or not, to Coastside Children’s Programs for the silent auction at the Ritz-Carlton on Sunday, Dec. 8 during the Holiday Tree Lighting Celebration when contest winners will be announced.  

Entry to build a house for the Annual Gingerbread House Contest must be turned in by Friday, Nov. 22, 2013. The three categories for entry include:

• any child aged 12 or younger 
• anyone aged 13 and older who are not professional chefs or in culinary school 
• for those working professionally in the culinary arts or currently enrolled in culinary school  

And the prizes are very impressive:

Children, 12 and under:

• 1st Place– $100 AMEX gift card
• 2nd Place – $75 AMEX gift card
• 3rd Place – $50 AMEX gift card
• People’s Choice – $25 AMEX gift card

Home Cooks:

• 1st Place – One Overnight Stay in Coastal View Room and Chef’s Tasting Dinner for Two in Navio (exclusive of alcohol)
• 2nd Place – Chef’s Tasting Dinner for Two in Navio (exclusive of alcohol)
• 3rd Place – Sunday Brunch for Two in Navio (exclusive of alcohol)
• People’s Choice – Sunday Brunch for Two in Navio (exclusive of alcohol)

Culinary Students and Professional Chefs:

• 1st Place – One Overnight Stay in a Coastal View Room and Chef’s Tasting Dinner for Two in Navio (exclusive of alcohol)
• 2nd Place – Chef’s Tasting Dinner for Two in Navio (exclusive of alcohol)
