Leadership for the Old and the New Foster City

Leadership Development

It was roughly a year ago, when I received the news that I had been nominated to attend the prestigious Leadership Program which was in part the idea of Jack T Foster, Honorable Jerry Hill, and several other visionaries. It was a long commitment and involved many days of meetings, development, and visits to virtually every area of civic responsibility's including health care, housing, business development, media, and government.

The list of past attendees included many notable leaders including Mayors from every city, City managers, public works directors, and many Foster City notables. Over 600 graduates over the past 20 years have quietly entered the public and private sectors better for their experience and making the communities better for theirs.

Tonight was our graduation and I was joined by FCPD Capt Jon Froomin and FC Chamber Ceo Chris Messina, both of whom i have tremendous respect for their intellect and social commitment. The event was a veritable who's who of San Mateo County.

I am proud to have taken part in the class and as I gear up for my 2011 City Council Candidacy, I am sure I will take the wealth of information and friendship from the class forward into my public life of service. Remember Family Matters!
