The Peninsula Jewish Community Center has hired a registered dietician with an athletic background to bolster its wellness services.
Kim Henderson will help PJCC members map out a nutritional strategy that's based on sound scientific research and not tied to marketing interests, the PJCC says.
Henderson is a former NCAA athlete, competing on the cross country and track and field teams at Division III Whitworth University (Spokane, Wash.).
She has an B.S. in Biology from Whitworth and an M.S. in nutrition with an emphasis in sports nutrition from the University of Utah. Her specialty is weight management and culinary nutrition.
“Eating delicious food is one of life’s greatest joys,” Henderson said, "but it’s nearly impossible to understand what constitutes healthy eating in a society where nutrition messages are often clouded by marketing, sales profits, and hype.”
Henderson said she aims to teach her clients principles of healthy eating emphasizing natural foods.
“My goal is to help people understand how to apply and implement nutritious eating and achieve their goals,” she said. “I approach nutrition from a whole-foods plant-centered framework to assist people in creating sustainable, healthy lifestyles.”
Henderson can be reached at email@example.com or 650.378.2722.
